Paul Harvey Archive

Paul Harvey, voted by Arena one of the most influential men’s wear designers of the last ten years, after 12 years work designing Stone Island and before that Sabotage and other key names, is selling his archive built up in the last 20 years.

The archive can be viewed in the building constructed to house it, near the Rimini Nord exit of the A-14 motorway in Italy. The hangar houses more than 7’000 pieces.  Great emphasis is given to the work done for Stone Island in the last twenty years and includes approximately 650 Stone Island jackets, some of which have never been publicly seen, and more than a 1’000 pieces of knitwear; more than a thousand “accessories” from the second world war to the present day; shoes for free climbing, collected to develop the Stone Island sneakers, to gas masks of the NATO forces. The collection is incredibly varied and moves from many military pieces some very rare and some classic, to corsets from the sixties. From high-altitude rucksacks, to handmade Japanese indigo Kendo gloves. Mr Harvey will be pleased to explain the significance of the various pieces to the eventual buyer.

Together with the 7’000 pieces of clothing there is an enormous collection of fabric samples, ranging from double knitted stainless steel to Japanese micromonofilament gauzes. From fibre optics to substrata for motorways. Finally, included in archive, are thousands of colour swatches collected in the last twenty years.

The archive is for sale due to the decision of Paul Harvey to explore other roads after thirty years in fashion.

L’archivio è visionabile nell’edificio costruito apposta per contenerlo vicino all’uscita dell’autostrada Rimini Nord. All’interno ci sono più di 7'000 pezzi. Un gran peso è dato dal lavoro fatto per Stone Island negli ultimi 20 anni e include circa 650 capi-spalla, alcuni dei quali mai visti dal pubblico, e più di 1'000 maglie. Più di 1'000 accessori che vanno dalla II guerra mondiale ai giorni nostri: dalle scarpe di free climbing, collezionate per mettere a punto le sneakers di Stone Island, alle maschere antigas dell’esercito della NATO. La collezione è molto eclettica e spazia da parecchi pezzi sia rari che classici militari alla corsetteria degli anni ’60; dagli zaini di alta montagna ai guanti artigianali giapponesi per il Kendo. Il Signor Harvey è disposto a spiegare il significato dei vari pezzi all’eventuale compratore. Insieme con i 7'000 capi c’è un enorme archivio di tessuti alquanto interessanti, che contiene una gamma che va dal punto stoffa in 100% acciaio inox ai micromonofilamenti giapponesi, dalle fibre ottiche ai sottostrati dell’autostrade. Infine, incluse nell’archivio, migliaia di campioni di colori collezionati sempre negli ultimi 20 anni.

L’archivio è in vendita dovuto alla scelta del signor Harvey di cambiare strada dopo 30 anni di lavoro come stilista.
